So, my last post asked Obama to get me a job, since he really does think the arts in education is important. In fact, I saw a 2011 Christmas interview with him and Barbra Walters, where when she asked about any (lifelong) regrets, he said learning Spanish and learning to play an instrument. Okay, I guess to most people art education and music education are distinctive. But to me, I know the secret that each form of art, playing piano and painting, say, are both equally vital to our brain development. It’s fine if you prefer music! But we all NEED forms of non-verbal & non-linear as a daily component in our lives. As Oprah would so, so we can be our best selves. Or, really, just so our brain can grow and ideally, we can discover cures for cancer et al. Yes, an art class would help our world to find cures for our most devastating harms.
